Description

Africa50 Mobility is a specialized infrastructure platform launched by Africa50 to develop, finance and operate road and bridge infrastructure assets across Africa.
With a growing pipeline of projects and one operational asset (Senegambia Bridge), Africa50 Mobility supports public sector stakeholders by mobilizing private capital for transport
infrastructure, improving service quality and unlocking value through asset recycling.
Development and proper maintenance of those assets will provide African governments with a sustainable funding model to support new infrastructure development or improve existing ones.
The Africa50 Mobility platform seeks to accelerate deployment of toll roads by structuring bankable projects and creating a robust pipeline of transport infrastructure assets.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Financial Controller to support the operationalization of Africa50 Mobility’s projects. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller, will play a critical role in the finance support of the company’s assets.
This includes contributing to due diligence processes, finalizing the operational strategy and ensuring its effective implementation within Africa50 Mobility’s Operating Companies
(subsidiaries). The Financial Controller as the senior accounting lead, will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls and acting as a key business partner on financial performance. The role combines hands‑on stewardship of the numbers with leadership of the finance team and support to management
on strategy, risk, and compliance.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting operations, including the general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, and adherence to GAAP/IFRS.
  • Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the month‑end and year‑end close process, ensuring timely, accurate closes and robust reconciliations.
  • Own budgeting and forecasting cycles, including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis versus actual performance.
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, ensure data integrity, and maintain regulatory compliance (tax, statutory, industry rules).
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital, supporting decisions on spending, financing, and banking relationships.
  • Act as key liaison with external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating audits and ensuring accurate, compliant filings.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities, efficiency gains, and financial risks, and recommend actions to improve profitability and control.
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, including recruitment, performance management, and development of staff.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Transport Economics, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or a professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA…) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration. Master’s degree (MBA, master’s in accounting/finance, or similar) a plus
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, audit, or finance, often including roles such as senior accountant, finance manager, internal auditor, or assistant controller. Demonstrated track record leading closing, reporting, budgeting, and internal control processes, plus experience managing small teams in infrastructure operations, O&M, or PPP projects, preferably with toll road or bridge operations in Africa.
  • Technical skill set: Advanced knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and regulatory/tax compliance relevant to Africa50 Mobility’s jurisdictions. Strong command of accounting systems and spreadsheet/ BI tools, including experience designing reports and improving processes.
  • Leadership & Delivery: Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams and delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Relationship Management: Skilled in engaging public authorities, local stakeholders, and operational staff; able to foster collaboration between Africa50 corporate services and subsidiaries.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to translate strategic objectives into financial plans.
  • Cross-Cultural Competence: Effective communicator across cultures with strong English and French skills (written and spoken).

Location

The position is based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, with travel across Africa as required.
